Update Frequency

Data updates from operators are processed the moment they arrive and the resulting data is forwarded ready for the next bulk update to our master database. Some operators produce updates every 20 minutes, some every hour, some every 3 hours and some just once or twice per day. This can vary depending on the time of day and day of week, and lates data is generally updated more often than future season data.

All data is stamped with a "valid at" date and time. No data is kept that would be older than "yesterday". Unlike our competitors, who feel that more is better --even if it's more of nothing useful--we believe old data is useless. Old data frustrates, clutters the valid information, and promotes distrust.

Every hour, a file containing the prices and availability at that point is created for our clients. Our Internet Loader program automatically updates client sites according to their needs - maybe every hour, maybe every three.

Sales staff browse the data to make enquiries, get results and view or manipulate the availability in many ways.

WebAirscan allows users to browse our data live from our remote servers. Key features of this software include: airport groups, colour coded operators, price movement indicators, sort any item, tree view grouping, export to excel, print grid, ip viewdata access, time stamping of offers etc, and arrows even indicate if a price has moved up or down since the last scan!

Scanning

Some operators do not provide updates as often as our customers would like. In such cases (or by special request) and where possible, we grab live prices from viewdata using our scanning systems which have evolved over the last fourteen years.

Master Database

Bulk updates are applied to our master database at least every hour, often every 30 minutes between 8am and 6pm. Each bulk update contains the latest availability plus scanned data we have from all operators. Between 6pm and 8am, bulk updates run approx every 3-4 hours.
